Grande Portage Resources Ltd. Engages ES&T to Conduct Geophysical Survey at its 100% owned Merry Widow Gold & Base Metals Deposit

July 25, 2011

VANCOUVER, BC, July 25 2011 - Grande Portage Resources Ltd. (TSX-V GPG) ("Grande Portage" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that it has engaged Maryland-based, Emerging Science & Technologies Group, Inc. ("ES&T") to conduct a proprietary electromagnetic survey at its 100% owned Merry Widow gold & base metals deposit near Port Hardy, B.C. While having completed in excess of 100 surveys to date in the USA this is the first survey that ES&T has accepted to complete in Canada.

The purpose of the survey is to identify and determine extensions of known deposits as well as identify potential new hard rock structures which can then be drilled to potentially increase the Company's NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate dated November 30, 2008 (Giroux/Raven).

Previous drilling in the area (2006) includes the following highlights:

DDHMW-08 87.48 m of 3.83 gpt Au, 4.94 gpt Ag, 0.26% Cu
DDHMW-15 47.32 m of 5.16 gpt Au, 23.48 gpt Ag, 1.47% Cu
DDHMW-16 49.31 m of 4.56 gpt Au, 18.73 gpt Ag, 1.14% Cu
DDHMW-17 50.32 m of 6.51 gpt Au, 21.93 gpt Ag, 1.38% Cu
DDHMW-18 49.67 m of 3.26 gpt Au, 15.02 gpt Ag, 1.02% Cu
DDHMW-21 41.58 m of 1.99 gpt Au, 30.15 gpt Ag, 1.82% Cu
(Including: 7.44 m of 5.10 gpt Au, 143.20 gpt Ag, 8.44% Cu)

ES&T's approach is unique and is not a variation of other forms of geophysical detection technology as their technology permits the detection and identification of the chemical constituents of host rock matrixes. The ES&T proprietary technology is applied using values derived from known atomic and molecular components of a targeted material. The technology then applies the parametres of energy (defined waveforms) of the targeted material, which if it is present, will induce a form of a signature in the targeted material that is specific to this method and permits its detection from the surface. In addition to formulating signals for this approach, the method for determining target material signal characteristics, and the processes and apparatuses used for detecting and triangulating on such signals are proprietary to ES&T.

The survey will commence in mid-August and is expected to last approximately 7 days.

The Company also wishes to advise that its previously announced drill program at the Herbert Glacier mesothermal gold vein project in Alaska is proceeding as planned. To date, the Company has completed 8 holes and has submitted core from the first 7 holes to the lab for assay. Initial results are expected within the next few weeks. Grande Portage plans to drill at least 3300 meters from approximately 22 holes drilled from 8 different platforms which will test up to four separate major veins and their satellitic structures.

Carl Hale, CPG, a geologist of more than 40 years experience, will direct the field program and will act as the qualified person as that term is defined under NI 43-101. Mr. Hale will be backed up by C. C. Hawley, Ph.D., CPG of Hawley Resource Group, Inc. and Alaska Earth Sciences, Inc. of Anchorage, Alaska
